Food provided at O.S.C.A.R.S. Inc. will be nutritious and varied. Menus vary from week to week to suit children's requirements, requests and to reflect current themes/festivals or cultural events.

When planning meals and snacks, O.S.C.A.R.S. Inc. takes into consideration the nutritional and healthy eating guidelines and recommendations from the National Health and Medical Research Council Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents in Australia, National Childcare Accreditation Council and relevant South Australian and Australian publications and legislation. Snack times and activities involving food preparation will provide positive learning experiences for children, who will be encouraged to develop healthy eating habits. Parents will be consulted and encouraged to share family and multicultural values and experiences to enrich the variety and enjoyment of food to meet children's nutritional needs. O.S.C.A.R.S. Inc. aims to provide a healthy environment in which children will grow and be safe. Preventative measures, through infection control processes, will be followed by all people at O.S.C.A.R.S. Inc. at all times.O.S.C.A.R.S. Inc. aims to provide a safe environment in which children can play and explore their world free from harm. In the event of an accident, appropriate first aid and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) will be applied by trained staff. At least one staff member with a Senior First Aid qualification will be on duty at the service at all times when children are present. If an emergency or natural disaster occurs at the service, Emergency and Accident Procedures will apply (see Emergency and Accident Procedures Policy). Evacuation and invacuation procedures will be practised with the staff and children once a term. This is to ensure that the safety and well-being of everyone present is protected.
